Clicking this will I had a similar problem in my Mondeo 1.8 TD a few years ago and this was cured by changing the engine oil and filter to the correct type. I had used the special Duckhams 10w-40w Turbo Diesel (or was it 15w-40w?) oil but once I changed it to the correct Ford 5w-30w (Formula-E ) ordinary oil, the turbo worked a treat every time. Just got a scrap one! £50 for a 51 plate escort van, cylinder head gasgit gone as well as all the water, gear stick falling out the bottom, otherwise looks good in white (a new white van man!). 109k on the clock. New exhaust, one duff tyre. Deisel 1.8 turbo. Go faster stripes on it when I have done the repairs! ZTnZCC.
